Finding My Tribe

I just finished reading {well, listening to} The Element. One chapter in the book describes the importance of finding your tribe - being surrounded by people who share your same passion. I spent a weekend recently in Las Vegas at the WPPI conference. If only law conferences were this fun!
I tagged along with my super talented friend Kari and her equally talented friends Krista & Kellie

Highlights of the weekend included a super-exclusive party at the ultra-chic Tryst Nightclub. Okay, that might be overselling it, but we felt a little slighted by what our ticket price actually gave us.
Tryst Nightclub
The first round of drinks cost as much as my share of the hotel FOR THREE NIGHTS - no joke.

We heard four AMAZING speakers - Tamara Lackey, Audrey Woulard, Jasmine Star and Jesh de Rox. I wish we had more time to attend more presentations - we took so much from each presentation. Even as a non-professional, I was motivated & inspired after each talk. We met so many amazing photographers who were willing to help out newbies. There was so much to do in a short period of time - we already started making notes for next year. Skip the hyped-up parties & reconnect with some of the friends we met this year.
We ended our trip on a super-high note - a desert photo shoot hosted by Victor Sizemore.
The following photos were made possible by this team:

Anna was the most amazing model - you can't tell it was windy & COLD!

Victor's daughter was adorable, but absolutely freezing.

At the end of the day, they had lights set up in the desert for a really cool effect:

Thanks Kari for letting me tag along & for staying alert & calm on our harrowing drive home & thanks to Nick for holding down the fort while I was gone.
