Speak Now or Forever Hold Your Peace

The ladies at daycare commented that Charlie has started crying "for no reason" during the day. As the conversation progressed, Nick asked if they noticed that Charlie started crying after they gave something to Greta. We were not surprised that the answer was "Yes!" Greta speaks for both of them. She tells us when they are hungry, tired or need a change of scenery. We often wonder if Charlie would have had a different personality if he hadn't been born a twin. Greta definitely takes care of him. They both get up at the same time in the morning, but it is usually Greta who tells us that the 30 minute morning grace period has expired & its time for breakfast. It's Greta who starts making the food sign during the day & blowing kisses at night. Charlie happily comes along when he sees what she has requested. We are trying to encourage him to tell us his needs through signs, but so far I think we are just enabling his dependence on Greta by anticipating his needs.
