Feliz Cumpleanos USA!

Big Sky, Montana has been on Nick's short list of weekend trips since last year. After our stellar camping trip to Moab in April, I thought it would be fun to plan a camping trip to Montana. Boy am I glad that never materialized. It was COLD! We drove to the ski resort on Saturday & the thermometer read 44 F. The cold, rain & hail would not have been a fun experience in a tent.
Luckily, we found a great rental house with Jessica, Kevin & the dogs. It was so cold that the crisp mornings, charcoal grill & plentiful mosquitos made us feel like we were camping. Yet, we stayed warmed. And mostly dry. It was the best of both worlds. The house had a gorgeous view of the valley. We saw two days worth of fireworks from the deck, roasted lots of marshmallows & celebrated our independence in style.
The kids were a bit disappointed the town didn't have a parade. But, Utah has another parade-worthy holiday later this month. Loved Courtney's idea to use fudge-striped shortbread cookies to make s'mores!

Among the items I forgot to pack was my camera charger, so thank you K & J for sharing the camera!
