Oh What a Night

We crammed a whole lot of fun into our Vegas vacation. Grandma & Grandpa babysat one night while Nick & I went to see Jersey Boys with Nick's cousin. Two out of three of us really enjoyed the show & the music. Anyone over 50 had a big smile on their face remembering ALL the hits of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons. Anyone over 60 was struggling to stay in their seat & not start dancing in the aisles. It was really fun to see people from pre-teens to Grandparents having fun. I would highly recommend the show - Nick said he liked it, but I'm pretty sure he would suggest you stick with a Cirque du Soleil performance.
I decided to pretend we were tourists for this visit and grabbed a few travel books from the library. There is so much to do in Vegas with kids - if you're willing to pay! But, I was pleasantly surprised to find a FREE attraction that we all enjoyed.
Ethel M Botanical Gardens
Ethel's Chocolates was about a 30 minute drive from Nick's parents house, but worth the effort. It's a candy factory started by the Mars family. We arrived after the factory workers were gone, but we had fun seeing the machines anyway - on the drive over, Greta asked if it was going to be like Willy Wonka. Of course, the chocolate store was still open & we all picked out treats. Nick is fiercely guarding the remaining peanut brittle.
The factory has an AMAZING botanical garden - desert style. Starting in mid-November, the cacti are lighted with millions of lights.
magical
It was truly a magical night - the warm nights (that are non-existent in Utah now) and beautiful colors put a smile on all of our faces.
dots
Oh what I would have given for a tripod!
Over the River
Proof that snow is not necessary for a lovely Christmas.
Lights
You might be thinking - fabulous chocolate, warm desert nights, beautiful lights, Christmas Carols - what could POSSIBLY top this?
The Big Man
A visit with the Big Man himself (Charlie's nervous, not bored. Greta was TRULY impressed. Ella wondered why he needed to ask her name).
